No, he's not, but just being Kobe Bryant may one day prove to be something on par or even greater.  Bryant has the three rings but gets less credit than perhaps he should after playing second fiddle to center Shaquille O'Neal.  In the court of public opinion, Bryant needs to win at least one (if not three) rings post-Shaq to be considered in the same breath as Jordan.
I don't know why people make statements like that. MJ's individual accomplishments blow Kobe out of the water as well - it isn't just rings that separates them.

I'm very curious as to this statement as well

leading some to declare definitively Bryant is no Jordan.

No, he's not, but just being Kobe Bryant may one day prove to be something on par or even greater.

    Especially linked by this statement

but until he wins a title, he's a cut below.  That may not be fair since basketball is a team game - and even the best individuals may retire ring-less - but that's the standard.

If titles are the standard and Jordan won 6 isn't the only way Kobe could possibly considered on Par with Jordan is if he wins 3 more titles and if he's greater he needs to win 4 more? What is the likelihood of THAT?

     with a supporting cast of

Bynum, Pau, and Ariza chances are pretty good i think

Really ? Only kobe huggers probably agree. Kobe is 30 years old. Winning 3 or 4 titles before he goes into decline at 34-35 means winning at least back to back titles and possibly back to back TWICE. That's pretty rare no matter who it is.

Yeah Lakers are a good shot to win 3 rings in the naext 5 years because they have a supporting cast that includes Bynum who hasn't even played a high level for 50 games and Ariza who has barlkey even played 50 games.

I've said many times and continue to believe that anyone who thinks Kobe is as good as MJ has either never seen MJ play or needs to find some old Bulls games on DVD. Kobe's great, but only MJ was MJ.
