It ain't the disagreeing. In fact, the disagreement, in and of itself, makes the board interesting. It is the inability to manage to disagree in a civil, thoughtful manner that leads to debate. Name calling, insulting, using strawman arguemnts, perseveration to make a point, etc, get old.
You would think that the majority, which on this board happens to be somewhat liberal, politically speaking, would welcome a few conservatives to act as foils for debate and discussion. But instead the focus is on winning at all costs, using a scorched earth policy.
