Lakers still get calls in Utah! Sickening.......... How can K-Bob push AK to the floor and AK get the foul in crunch time? At least K-Bob is the MVP so I understand he gets phantom calls but how does Fisher get away with doing the same thing to D-Will? Lets put K-Bob on the line to shot three free throws on another phantom call. Oh and don't forget the classic of calling the Jazz for an offensive foul for simply turning around. The refs did everything the could to give taht game to the Lakers.

The simple fact still remains, K-Bob is the best player in the league right now with help from the refs or not. I still believe he can beat the Jazz almost single handedly. Not a pleasing thought for a Jazz fan!

Dude, are you for real?   The Jazz outshot the Lakers 45-25 at the foul line and you're still crying about the reffing?

Did you watch the game and see the refs trying to hand the game to the Lakers? Have you checked out the free throw attempts for the series?

Yeah, I have a problem with technical fouls in the closing minutes of a playoff game.  Okur swings his hand in a downward motion and gets a technical foul. Almost the very next play Kobe gets called for a block and puts his hands up incredulously and doesn't get T'd up.  I always thought that with under 3 minutes to go you'd have to tell a ref that you nailed his Mom before you'd get a T.

you aren't talking about the 4th game, do you?  the refs are "trying to hand the game to the lakers" by giving them less FTs?

and what the *** do the free throw attempts for the series have to do with the discrepancy in game 4?

First of all, you were talking about game 4 specifically to which I responded.  Secondly, if you can't see how different your own team is playing in Utah as opposed to LA I can't help you.

I could pick out specific plays  I as a Laker fan was unhappy with also.  Does that mean that the refs were trying to hand the game to the Jazz?  Of course not, that's ridiculous.  As is your constant whining about refereeing.

Be prepared for the Jazz getting every conceivable call on the planet in Game 6.  The last couple minutes of Game 5 were pretty bad.

Tough to say whether it was a flop or not.  Okur certainly seemed to exaggerate it a little bit.  Flop or no flop, Gasol did it twice in the last couple minutes that led directly to buckets.  And Fisher got to the line for a couple freebies for some middling, off-the ball contact.  And Lamar went for plus one for some phantom contact.  That's a lot of referee intervention in the last couple minutes of a crucial playoff game.

My point is that the same thing will now happen in Utah and it's getting sort of stupid this year (in all the series).

    Maybe.

There's also a reason why Laker message boards were going crazy about missed over the back calls in Game 1 and 2 (despite winning) and are now strangely silent.

Just wait for Game 6.  It will get nauseating in favor of the Jazz.  I mean, I guess that's how pro sports leagues should be?

"Little bit of a flop, too," Deron Williams said. "He got pushed a little bit. I don't know if it was that bad."

If you have half a clue about Jerry Sloan you would know why he didn't bring that play up. He NEVER complains off the court about refs.

Guess again, the Jazz sucked and the Lakers played great......... As much as I hate the Lakers and think the refs are biased against the Jazz all the blame goes to the players. Good series Lakers, I still hate you.......... haha

What an unbelievable first half of game 2 refing by Delaney. One bad call after another. Blatant *** too. Its games like these that are conveniently "forgotten" by myopic Laker haters whenever someone brings up the refering.

    horrible officiating down the end.

    Kobe got fouled.

Pierce got held by Kobe when Fisher "stole" the ball

Radmanovic traveled on the fast break.

    Re: Refs "managing" games

A big part of the Celtics free throw advantage was the free throws Leon Powe got in the first few minutes of the second quarter.  You Lakers fans may never have heard of Powe, but the two things he does well are offensive rebounding and getting to the line.  For the season, he averaged 11.4 free throws per 48 minutes, compared to 11.2 for Kobe.

It was a rare coaching mistake for PJax that he started the second quarter with all bench players on the floor.  Walton and Turiaf couldn't keep Powe from establishing position down low, and made fouls.  Not only did Powe get free throws, but this got the Lakers into the penalty early.  If either Odom or Gasol had been on the floor, Rivers would have been so worried about the 6'8" Powe matching up defensively that he probably would have pulled Powe after a couple of minutes.  Against Walton and Turiaf, Powe looked like an All-Star.
