Nobody does it alone. Kobe didn't look great when he had to carry the Lakers single-handedly, now that he's got Gasol, Bynum, and Odom he looks like an MVP. Bird and Magic never won a title where they didn't have a couple other Hall of Famers on the team with them. Even Michael Jordan never had a .500 season when Pippen wasn't his teammate. LeBron rightly deserved the MVP votes he got -- that roster would be in the cellar without him.
LeBron has looked great against the Pistons in the playoffs the last couple of years. He looked fine against Washington in the first round. Now he's up against Boston, the best defense in the league, and they're swarming him. At least two guys are on him whenever he puts the ball on the floor, and the other three guys are playing the passing angles to cut off LeBron's obvious outlets.
LeBron has already come a long way with his jumper and defense from when he was a rookie. He's still only 23. He'll continue to improve. But he's not going to win a title unless he gets better teammates.
I always feel like the regular season is a six-month test to see who deserves to be in the NBA championship. You get rid of all the pretenders and the real basketball teams have been left standing. -- Robert Parish
