So, does this lend support to the NBA being like the WWE?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3404607

Interesting that the NBA just the investigation down, "In a footnote, the attorney suggested that the NBA might have "'pressured" the attorney's office "into shutting down this prosecution to avoid the disclosure of information unrelated to Tim's conduct."'

Read this article, it makes one wonder if you have to be a darling child of David Stern to be successful.

Wittman’s credentials as a losing coach are unimpeachable.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. They clearly have something to hide. David Stern needs to explain himself or resign. This ain't going away - not as long as the NBA continues to treat its superstars differently on the court.

Another problem that I am having a hard time with, is how David Stern and the rest of the owners have handled the Seattle Supersonics move to Oklahoma. It's like Stern WANTS them to move no matter what. Now that we have learned that Clay Bennett NEVER intended on staying in Seattle, Stern should have put his foot down. But he didn't, and it makes me wonder if Bennett has Stern in his back pocket.

Of all the sports, the NBA, in my opinion, is the most corrupt.  I think Stern does what he wants and when he wants and feels he is untouchable.  He has no accountability and that has been proven time and time again.

Wittman’s credentials as a losing coach are unimpeachable.

I won't be one bit surprised if the Knicks get the #1 pick in this draft.  I guess it is what it is, which is probably a rigged sport.  If Tim doesn't watch it though, he might suffer a tragic car accident.

David Stern needs to go. He's been in the main position of power in this league for too long, and it's now like he is running with blinders on. Anything to protect his baby ... he's done some great things for the league, but it's time to hand it over. He has clearly done all that he can, and seems to have started to lose control of things.

I don't think the Knicks will get #1, they'll somehow get LeBron in a couple years.  This is one of those years where the #1 will get the #1.   Miami is a happy market, and they will get their reward for being located in a community that is large enough for the NBA to care about.  Personally I think the NBA could take some lessons from the NFL on the positive side of parity, but I'm not counting on it.

The only thing more stupid than the conspiracy theories themselves are that people actually buy into them because their team's lost.

Stick to the anti-Obama threads. We're discussing the NBA in here.

    That's awesome!

But yes, lottery + David Stern = fixed NBA. Oh, don't forget about the gambling referees  (ahem, one referee.... yeah right.)

No, you're perpetuating impossible conspiracy theories which aren't plausible. Since you clearly aren't able to comprehend the logic behind the NBA not risking its multi-billion dollar business just to decide who wins, you should check out Steven Kyler's recent article about how your silly theories aren't realistic. But I guess so long as your teams is always the bridesmaid and never the bride, you and your pals in here will keep flying blind. I'd love to hear your theory on how the NBA (which according to your foolish theory fixes games) allowed the boring old Spurs in their little city to win 4 titles in recent years.

Uh huh. If you believe that crock, you probably also believe that a still alive and pregnant Elvis Presley comes down to earth in flying saucers to kidnap humans to take up into space to perform surgical experiments on.

So conspiracy theorists, let's hear it, huh? Push pause on your X-Files DVD and tell me how the boring/no tv rating Spurs have won so many titles lately since the NBA decides who wins. Come on, let's hear it! I'd love a good laugh.

You are not going to get any pats on the back from Wolves fans bud. The Spurs have benefited from generous reffing for years since they drafted Tim Duncan. Remember, the NBA is all about marketing their superstars. My biggest beef is first the lottery, and how the superstars get superstar treatment from the refs. That stuff needs to stop for me to take the league more seriously. I am a huge NBA fan, but it can be a farce at times.

Since when does the NBA market Tim Duncan?

Do actually WATCH the NBA on a national level? Just asking, because I see him on TV all the time......

He isn't marketed close to the levels that Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Wade, KG, etc are. He isn't marketed close to the level that the other upper echelon talent is. How many commercials do you see him in? How many shoe commercials is he marketed in? Just asking, because the primary time he's on tv is when he's on the court.

Probably not the right place to say that Timmy isn't marketed nearly as much as KG ... if you are talking about the league (which you were at the beginning), the league has given plenty more attention to "the greatest power forward of all-time" Tim Duncan than they have to KG, and I would venture to say it's not even close. The league itself didn't start to aggressively market KG until he landed in Boston.

Just an aside, the first big Adidas campaign I really remember KG in was a few years back, and Duncan appeared in that commercial alongside of him. Just thought I'd point that out.

Porter is right on with this. It kinda drives me nuts that when KG was with the Wolves, he wasn't NEARLY marketed by the NBA the same way he is now. But whatever, everyone is entitled to their own conclusions.

Anybody else find David Stern's denial of Donaghy's stories completely unbelievable and phony?

I do. David Stern has outlasted his welcome IMO. Other than the whole Donaghy issue, the Supersonics situation pisses me off even more.

Absolutely. The thing I have to ask myself is; what would Donaughy (sp?) gain from making this up? I can't think of anything. So then why would he? It just makes more sense that Donaughy has just figured "What the hell, I'm already screwed. I might as well just come completely clean."

If this was for the sake of money or something, wouldn't it make much more sense to write a book and include that lil' nugget in there?

I tend to believe him. Hell, we've all seen games that we thought we're so obnoxiously, one-sidedley (did I just make that word up?) reffed... I don't doubt it one bit.

I also agree with Vendetta... it's just simply time for Stern to go, IMO.
