*** The Official OJ Mayo Bandwagon ***

I think we need to go with the BPA.  Mayo's stock dropped simply because of overhype and his choice of school.  We can't overlook a potential franchise player for need, I think we need Mayo to go with that All Beef Sandwich.

Wittman’s credentials as a losing coach are unimpeachable.

Let's just hope McHale and co. are also.  I fear the words "drafting for need".  Uggh!

See the thing is, Mayo fits a lot of the needs of the team: outside shooting, perimeter defense, free throws.  So in a way drafting him is "drafting for need", much more than drafting Lopez...

Sigh. Unbelievable. If there was ever undeniable proof the lotto was rigged, this is it. That said, you gotta go with BPA and that looks to be Mayo...

I was very happy when they called the Knicks.  I was expecting a Miami, Knicks top 2, but Chiacago's pretty much the same thing.  Big market = more money for Stern.

Chicago is a big market and have a chance to take the hometown super prospect Rose..... either way either player is going to be scary with a 100% D Wade.

At least nobody in our division is picking before us this year. I'd have been really pissed if Seattle would have leapfrogged us.

After I give myself a few days to get over the pain and bitterness... I will probably force myself to come around to the idea of OJ Mayo, because it will make it less painful when we actually select him.

However, when draft day comes and they actually select Lopez my heart will hurt once again.

I will go on record as saying that I don't know that I would touch Mayo with a 10ft poll. He's screwed over his college team with what looks like will result in NCAA sanctions after being there for just one year. I see this kids ego and sense of entitlement being far above everything else. The thing he cares most about in life is himself. Something tells me that he'd be a cancer.

As of right now, I'm actually thinking that I'd try to make a full blown attempt to move up, if either of the top two teams would consider it. Throw them a couple other picks, and or someone like Craig Smith in a sign-and-trade. Needless to say, if they were willing to trade out of one of the top 2 spots, they would most likely turn around and trade out of the 3rd spot too. Whichever team we could make it work with could acquire multiple draft picks in the coming years by negotiating their way down in this draft (again... it's my fantasy and I'll fantasize as I see fit).

You may not have to worry about Mayo. Every Timberwolf fan seems to think he's the slam dunk pick at #3, but every mock draft I've looked at this morning has both Lopez and Bayless going higher than Mayo. Some even have Kevin Love and Gallinari going higher than him too.

Personally, I'm hesitant to sign yet another combo guard to this roster, and I think Mayo's game is a little overhyped. I saw him play live against Wash. State, and he just didn't seem like that great an athlete to me. For those of you who think Foye struggles running the point, don't even waste your time thinking that Mayo will beat him out for that job. If he comes here, we have another undersized SG, period. From what I've seen, this guy is selfish and makes bad decisions when he's not focusing on his own scoring. I still think he'd be a good addition to the team, and it would be fun watching him and McCants battle it out for the starting job. If we draft him and keep Telfair around, we'd have a really, really deep backcourt.

Personally, I think I'd rather see Bayless on this team, IF we're actually looking for a PG. He's more athletic than Mayo and seems a lot craftier with the ball.

I just do not want to see the Wolves draft Lopez. IMO, he has BUST written all over him. I have been on the Mayo bandwagon for a while now. Even though Mayo is a combo guard,  he isn't 6 foot 2 1/2 inches like McCants and Foye. And hell, Mayo plays DEFENSE!

Foye is 6'4", 218 lbs, and Mayo is 6'4", 210 lbs.. Doesn't seem like a boatload of difference to me. He probably will be a better defender than either Foye or McCants though.

I really don't believe that Foye is 6'4". But even if he is, Mayo would still be a better defender with his arm length and quickness.

Oh yeah? What exactly is Mayo's arm length compared to Foye's? I don't know why, but that whole "wingspan" argument people constantly use when they like a player bugs the sh*t out of me. Maybe Mayo has an inch longer reach, but does that even matter at their position? I doubt it.

I find it funny that both Foye and Mayo were/are compared to Ben Gordon when discussed pre-draft. In those assessments, both were/are characterized by their quickness, their "tweener" status, their strength at the PG position, and their ability to finish at the rim. I'm a big fan of Foye, and having another clone of him on the team wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit, but I also have character concerns with Mayo that I never had with Foye.

I think we need a PG more than another "tweener". Bring on Bayless!

Although I don't really know that much about Bayless, I tend to agree with your post otherwise. So I'll take your  word that Bayless would be a better fit. I'd just be really leery of bringing in a walking talking attitude like Mayo ...so I'm certain that Taylor and McHale are even more concerned.

And although I don't think that Lopez will be a "bust", I don't think that he is good enough to be taken in the early lottery. However, with that being said ...I don't know who else is.

I can't believe we got hosed again! Now that I think about it... we probably will take Christian Laettn.... I mean Brooks Lopez.

Brook Lopez = next Christian Laettner.  It's true.

I'm not so much for Mayo as I am against Lopez.  I will have to look into Randolph and Gallinari, and Bayless too I suppose...

Chaos, I'm fairly convinced that the attitude stuff is overblown.

Shout out to Xand1 for this...

     From Chad Ford:

...there's another story, too, that's helping Mayo's stock. More and more teams are reporting that their background checks are coming back as positives for Mayo. Teams say that he earned good grades at USC and was a good citizen for coach Tim Floyd, and they report multiple instances of Mayo volunteering to help underprivileged kids.

Sorry folks i have not posted in awhile im sure your all wondering what happened to my just as i was wondering where Sheep has been lately but i see he has posted again, Im really pist off that Chicago moved up that much. How gay.  I want Mayo i dont care if he cares about himself i guess we just need somebody we can market are team around besides Big Al. Because Brook Lopez and the Italian guy are not the answer. If we don't take Mayo i might have a heart attack.
