Trading FOR a Center Instead of Trading UP

The name has come up on that other board a few times in the past, but it did again today so it got me thinking ... what would it take to trade for a center that's already in the league instead of trading up to take one in the late teens or mid-20's? One name in specific, because I think he would be perfect next to Al, is Andris Biedrins. It leads me to some questions.

Would Golden State be willing to deal him?

What player would we need to include to get it done?

What are future picks worth (Miami's and Boston's)?

Do you think it would be possible without giving up this year's pick?

Thinking more and more about this, I would love to end draft night with Mayo and Biedrins.

I wouldn't be adverse to them doing this as long as they don't sell the farm to get it to happen. I wouldn't like to see wholesale number 1 picks to secure any deal. We have too many needs to just toss aside the picks as they have in the past. I would rather see them trade their 2 seconds for a low first and pickup a decent center there. Unless they can get a really great deal on someone.

Although I agree that we have plenty of needs, I kind of see the future number 1's as playing with house money. With one of the top 2 picks, I think Miami can easily end up back in the playoffs, which seriously takes away some value from the number 1 of theirs that we own. As for Boston's, it's next year's (I believe) so it's going to be late, late first round anyway. I'd love to get the extra player I suppose, but at that point isn't it worth getting a guy who you already know can play instead of finding the best late 1st round talent? As long as we aren't trading any of our own first round picks, I don't mind.

Despite what the simpletons on the other board think, Biedrins is a proven commodity and is far more valuable than the #3 pick in this draft. What he's shown at his age and his position is incredible when you actually break it down, and it goes without saying I'd give up just about anything outside of Big Al to get him on this team. Still, I doubt GSW doesn't know what a find they have in the kid, but I'd certainly be calling. It really doesn't make any sense that he doesn't have an extension yet and that he plays <30 mpg so I guess you never know.
