Great trade for Portland if, and it's a bigazz if, Bayless can learn how to play pg.  They need a true pg.  I see Bayless as a Monta Ellis type tweener (which is not bad at all), but he needs to learn to play the point.

I doubt the Blazers traded for him to have him back up Roy.  They must think they're grooming him for the pg spot.

wouldnt Roy do more damage at the PG spot rather than SG ? he'll be able to go up against smaller players on the offensive end and isnt he quick enough to guard them on the defensive end ?

Even if Bayless turns out to be a backup combo-guard, the Blazers are good.

They have Blake who is probably the most underrated starting PG in this league (him and Alston for sure), and a nice young talent in Sergio Rodriguez backing him up. Sergio can become a true PG.

Yup, Roy can play the point (maybe the perfect pg for the triangle), but I've always thought of him as a 2.  I suppose it can work with two really good combo guards.

The last pair of combo guards that really worked out was Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge.  I'm not sure if you can still make it work in today's NBA.

I'm more confused about why Portland would go after a scoring point.  They've already got the problem of too many young players who want the ball in their hands.  They need some perimeter players who will be willing to get the ball in to Aldridge and Oden instead of wanting to take the shot themselves.

IN to Aldridge?  When's the last time that guy took the ball down low and posted up?  He doesn't get closer to the rim than 15 feet, like he thinks it has AIDS or something.

I always thought Coby was untradeable! Portland would be fools to pass up on Coby!

It's get it into their hands.  There was no specification of it being down-low.  :P

Aldridge high-post, Oden low-post.  Like the Robinson - Duncan days for the Spurs.

No complaints at all, just a humorous observation.

*** Vlad, Luke, and the unspeakable one.  You guys are stuck with them, deal.

Every time Luke took a shot in the finals, I was cheering "Yes Luke, keep shooting!" Stick out tongue
