    Knicks / Pacers

    Indiana trades: Jamaal Tinsley

New York trades: Malik Rose and cash

The Knicks are rich and get a starting PG for a backup.  The Pacers will have Ford, Jarrett Jack, and Travis Diener, so they get an expiring contract which is better than a buyout of Tinsley.

I'd love to see that deal go down. Easy yes for the Pacers, imo. Their PG position is set, and they add to the solid cap space they will have for next off-season.

If Tinsley's deal was a year shorter I know the Knicks would JUMP on it. Not so sure right now, but I'm sure the two teams could make the deal work with a bit of tweaks.

Ya, with the signing of Duhon, this seems dead.

I sort of like the idea of Tinsley for Brian Cardinal.

Cardinal has 2 years left so the savings would not be justified.

Meh, there's a real great chance that the Wolves would agree, I just don't think it would be a big deal. I'd still do the deal for both sides.

Tinsley would be a huge upgrade at the PG spot for the Wolves. They would get A LOT more out of him (even if he only plays half a season) than Brian Cardinal. I agree that they wouldn't be thrilled to be the final year of his $7.5 mill contract, but with or without him they will still have significant cap space, and there's no way they're going to land King James or Bosh anyways.

As long as Tinsley can stay relatively healthy, he shouldn't be too hard to move later down the road either.

I meant on Indiana's side.  Just chopping off the last year of the contract is not worth it.

Oh. Well I honestly don't think its great for either side haha but I still like it.

With Ford, Jack, and Diener the Pacers are set at PG. I sort of do think they'd be happy just saving money on any sort of trade. $7.5 mill could mean the difference between a star free agent in 2010 and a player like Magette -depending on who they re-sign of course. Ideally, some team would give a useful player on a two year or less deal though. I agree. This is the sort of deal I'd be happy to settle with if nothing else was available.

this trade affects neither team. they will both still suck
    Even when winning is illogical.
Losing is still far from optional.
