    Politics have killed Random Stupidity

Can we merge all this crap into one super mega thread?  Fvck I'm sick of seeing "Obama" and "Hillary" in thread titles.  I understand it's news right now, but goddamn.   I don't come to this forum very often because of it.

I agree.  Maybe a political forum?  Even though I'm not a Bush fan, seeing every other post about how somebody hates him is tiring.

I think we should have a whole forum for bashing bush... Keep it out of Random Stupidity. Agreed. Even I'm bored of the politics here.

Taking the pop culture out of Random stupidity hurt the most. Pop culture is the definition of random stupidity. There is no way we should have a forum for each. Merge them like it used to be.

Less forums is better. We need that light weight stuff to break up the downer that is politics.

Hahaha, I didn't even know there was a Pop Culture forum!  All this time I've been thinking "man, RS has really died.  What happened to all the fun posts?" :)

Incidentally, this is exactly why everybody vetoed the idea of a Pop Culture Forum in the first place, so that all this stuff would be centralized and you wouldn't have to forum hop just to find everything :)

The Streetball forum is also dead now.  There used to be fun threads, now it's all threads about basketball shoes.

Psubs apparently PM'd or emailed BsKball when the messageboard came back and essentially conned/lied to him about there being a Pop Culture forum before so he'd make one for the new messageboard. . That was what I heard anyway. We voted before and RS posters overwhelmingly voted they didn't want a separate P.C. forum because they knew it'd be lame.

I've ignored the P.C. forum anyway. It was a stupid idea then, and a stupid idea now. In regards to what K is saying here in this topic. I think he's right to a certain degree. It's old news about Dubya is the devil and Hillary is evil and Obama is the great Messiah. What totally killed RS was the ridiculous wait for the new board and the downgrade of the site characteristics itself. This politics stuff that K brings up is more keeping RS down, but he's right on for the most part I'd say.

Excuse me but there are 4 threads on presidential candidates and two other political threads... out of 30 on the first page.

There happens to be the most unique presidential in modern history going on at the moment... and LESS than 20% of the commentary in this forum is about the presidential race.

The facts is there aren't enough people here. Out of the people here now, few feel interested in starting topics. What's worse is there is no interest it seems in encouraging people to join the board. So we're left with the fact that the people remaining would rather complain about the topics rather than start them. That pretty much leaves me cold.

I suspect most of us are coming here now out of habit than real interest. I think it's time to bury it. Adieu.

Re: Politics have killed Random Stupidity

Personally, I primarily come to Random Stupidity to see what, among others, guys like Cylinder, DJDoc, JohnXXX and Edienstag have to say about the latest development in the primaries.  I don't get how political discussion is "killing" random stupidity when some of the best threads ever have been about politics.

All the best topics in the history of this forum have had zero to do with politics.  There are all sorts of political forums out there.  Find some and knock yourselves out.

I'm not even saying kill politics altogether.  Just merge it all into one thread.

I changed my mind. It's not politics that's killing RS.

It's just dying by extinction. Politics is probably the only thing keeping it alive. But splitting off pop culture definitely hurts. Just too thinly populated board for now to support more than one RS sub-board. When/if it builds back up, we can have more divisions.

Re: Politics have killed Random Stupidity

Politics have definitely brought this board down, imo. The politics on the old board were just too vicious; I rode with the waves for a while, but when the forums were taken down I took the opportunity to just not come back.

Really it all comes down to an individial responsbility to the collective whole kind of thing. If each person choses their right to be as vicious as they want to be, and does not exercise their responsibility to be somewhat civil and thoughtful and respect the viewpoint of others, soon no one has a board.Or at least, no one has a board worth having.

Another way of looking at it is that a board dying is the work of internet trolls. They fight like mad, using any weapons at their availility, including mockery, screaming, hate-mongering, etc, to become kings of the hill--and wind up rulers of a little trash-pile because all the thoughtful dissenting voices have just moved on.

Yes, of course.  The only possible reason Random Stupidity could possibly be dying is because people disagreed with your political views.
