Would you trade Tracy McGrady for Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince?

    Damn. I don't know.

    PG - Billups

    SG - Prince

    SF - Battier

    PF - Scola

    C - Yao

Does that lineup have a better chance at getting out of the 1st round?

Without hesitation I would - though I don't really like having Battier and Prince on the same team. I might look to trade Battier to get a bit younger. You definitely won't get more for him, and I think it's becoming a bit more clear that T-Mac and Yao are not the best duo.

I would gladly trade TMac for Blillups straight up.

Throw in Prince and maybe we can send him somewhere else for a 2-guard. Trade Battier? Battier is a better player than Prince. Sure Prince may "blossom at the right time" but Battier blossoms all the time.

I doubt Detroit would do it.

billups tilts the deal HEAVILY in the Rocket's favor. Prince for McGrady straight up is more reasonable.

    Not a chance in hell.

Billups is on the downside of his career while McGrady is still in his prime. From an organizational standpoint, that makes it unappealing.

Billups and Prince are better defenders, but McGrady can score in more ways than Billups. From Rick Adelman's standpoint, why would an offensive-minded coach trade offense for defense???

I know, it sounds good in all the tabloids, but where does it get the Rockets? Outside of Billups, nobody on that team will be able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, and you don't want your PG doing that every trip down the court. Besides, Billups is the type of point that flourishes in half-court sets, not in the full court. He's a guy who likes to penetrate and kick and break a defense down. On the flip side, pass-first PG's like Kidd and Nash love the full-court game because it opens up passing lanes.

I'm not going to get into all the reasons that it's wrong, but it basically takes the organization back a step. Everyone is looking at the trade as talent-for-talent when it's actually trying to find the right guy for a system. Billups and Prince aren't those guys, and who would be the Rockets' primary scorer from the wing, anyways?

I'd do the trade although I don't think you could stop there. You'd need to move another PG/SG like Head or something along with either Prince or Battier for a wing scorer. I've always thought Alston was a starter you can't win a ring with but one of the best backups in the NBA. You use Alston to push the ball with a 2nd unit and pair Billups with a more 1/2 court starting unit. If they are commited to Yao than Billups fits. He can get Yao the ball and hit the shots that come from doubles. For all Tmacs greatness he's very injury prone.

You can't survive with Prince as a SG. You really don't need Prince and Battier they are 2 similar so you'd need to package one of them to get you a wing scorer. Seems like a lateral move to me.

HOU with Yao is a half court team  Houston loses scoring , but gains stability.  But i agree, you would need to get rid of Battier if your taking back prince, t hey're basically the same type of player, with Shane being a bit stronger

You could.  But Prince is an all-around better player.  Battier is a slightly better defender, and will have a higher percentage on the wide-open three-pointer.  Prince is a much better offensive player, a better rebounder, and still a top-notch defender.  Prince has to be defended, unlike Battier.  Houston's best bet would be to listen to offers on both players, and trade whichever one brings the better return.

no thats dumb becuse thats 2 good 4 1 not so gud. im not sayin t mac aint gud no more but he jus aint that great any more, but if he was in his prime then shur but he dosent dunk any more cuz of his back problems, and he cant realy move as gud as he used 2. point blank chauncey is a gud long range shooter in the regular season and is a great point guard. tayshaun can score on bigger defenders and has great de fence. and t mac is just old. now buillups does have a problem around play off time, witch t mac dosent he can bring a pretty gud game to the play offs. but i still dont think buillups and prince would ba a good trade, maby 4 the rockets but not 4 detroit.

Battier's consistency is the reason I would take him over Prince any day of the week. With Battier you know what you are going to get day in and day out. He really does bring you a little bit of everything (and alot of defense).

I love this trade for Houston, but it kills Detroit. The Rockets aren't interested in trading McGrady, but a deal like this would change their minds . . . and get Dumars fired. You would obviously start Battier and Artest and bring Prince off the bench, Prince and Battier together don't give you enough offense,
