The problem is that to make a big trade you have to send something out, and the only thing the Mavs have that can actually return something big is Josh Howard or Dirk Nowitzki. Jet's awesome, but overpaid, and the rest of the lineup is older or of little interest to other teams. Rick Carlisle honestly believes that in a new system and after a full camp Kidd and company can compete in the West. Not saying I agree . . . but that's the answer to your question.
