Oct 6 VS
Sacramento Kings
Gametime is 7 pm Pacific time. Our first look at your 2009-10 Portland Trailblazers will be next Thursday night at the Rose Garden where the Blazers take on the Sacramento Kings.
Video previews of this years team can be viewed in the Club Blazers video locker.
This game will also mark the first opportunity to see Spanish Chocolate himself,
Sergio Rodriguez
, play for another team. Besides Rodriguez, the Kings have added
Sean May
, prize rookie
Tyreke Evans
(sixth overall pick) and new head coach
Paul Westphal
to the mix. Last years preseason game against the Kings was our first opportunity to see the
Spanish Armada
in action and Rudy and Sergio put on quite a show with their two man game of lob passing and dunking. We also got to see our prize number one pick for the first time throw down one of those monster jams we all love to see. But IMO it was
Martell Webster
who stole the show with a performance that led us all to believe he was headed for a breakout season. Unfortunately, it was the last time we got to see him play like that. Shortly after the game we learned his foot was broken, and other than a few brief minutes in a game against Toronto in which he reinjured his foot that was the last we got to see of him on the basketball court. He'll have a chance against the Kings to show us all that he has dusted the rust off his game and is healthy enough to pick up where he left off last year.
Click here for a reminder of what a healthy Martell Webster brings to the table.
During preseason Coach McMillian has often tinkered with different starting combinations. On occaision he has even given a start to a player he knew he would likely end up cutting as a reward for hard work during camp. I'm in Mexico on vacation, and I don't have any inside scoop on what Nate is planning for this game. At this point its probably anyones guess who gets the starting nod. Here is my guess. Who do you think the Coach will start? Projected starters
